അനന്തരം യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനോടു: യിസ്രായേലിലെ രാജസ്ഥാനത്തിൽനിന്നു ഞാൻ ശൌലിനെ തള്ളിയെന്നറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കെ നീ അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു എത്രത്തോളം ദുഃഖിക്കും? കൊമ്പിൽ തൈലം നിറെച്ചു പുറപ്പെടുക; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമ്യനായ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയക്കും; അവന്റെ മക്കളിൽ ഞാൻ ഒരു രാജാവിനെ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
